Discussion question for April 17, 2009
What are the principles and commandments that apply to a Christian in today’s world regarding debt? How do you define “debt”? What does the Bible teach us about it? What does that mean in the context we live in, at home or at work?

Our future leaders will be drawn from the pool of young adults, those in their late teens and twenties. They are in the formative stage in their life, making life-long commitments and establishing their identity. There seems to be a lack of guidance and direction available from our local churches and other organizations. They are too old for the typical youth group, but not yet considered “young family”.
As Christian leaders, what is our call to action? Who should take ownership of this situation, and how should it be addressed?

Are there commandments that address giving, especially tithing, at a corporate or organizational level? Does it apply to a business or a church? Does the legal structure of the organization make a difference? What commandments or principles apply on a personal level, and do they apply to an organizational one?

If your personal ministry comes out of your core identity, then how can you be certain of your purpose? It is part of your hard-wiring. It is partly from your experiences and circumstances. It is part of your values and convictions.
From a very practical point of view, how can a Christian discover what that purpose (personal ministry) is that is deep inside them? What exercises, ways of thinking, external resources, spiritual discernment can be tapped into to answer this question?

In our culture there is an assumed link between a persons job and their identity. We ask someone: “So what do you do?” as a way of finding out more about who they are.
Whether prompted by a career transition, retirement, health or the economy – what is the right relationship between your personal ministry (identity) and your current job description or title (occupation)?
