What is at the root of disease?

Are diseases, such as cancer and diabetes, the result of things in the physical realm, the emotional realm, or the spiritual realm?  How do you address disease in your life, based on this understanding?  What can you do to help someone that is struggling with disease?

Paul writes an incredible benediction in Ephesians 1:15-19 that expresses his purpose in prayer for the saints.  What do you think he means by “the eyes of your heart?”  How can they be enlightened?  What changes would be apparent in your life if this enlightening were to take place?  Where does it come from? There are many names used for God in the Bible, particularly in the Old Testament.  Why is that the case?  What benefit can you find for knowing God’s various names?  How can you use the different names in the way you live, pray, and communicate with others?  What name would you use to describe God?

The first part of discernment is to recognize good from evil which is important for sanctification.  But we are called to be Christ-like which requires discernment of another person’s preferable future.  How can you train yourself to see the potential in another?  What can you do to demonstrate that knowledge?  How can you obey “do not judge” while exercising the gift of discernment? What impact would this have on your family, your church, and your community?
