We shared things we are thankful for, and understood the balance between conflict and comfort as described in 2 Corinthians 1:4-6.  What significant things have you done to express gratitude?  What habits have you embraced to increase thankfulness?  What would you recommend to a younger believer to instill an “attitude of gratitude?”

There was a bumper sticker many years ago that averred: “The one with the most toys wins.”  How should Christ followers respond to that statement?  What “toys” are appropriate in your life?  By what standard do you measure their worth?  How have you made an idol of an object?  How have you benefited by a similar object?  What caution or encouragement would you share with a young believer regarding these things?

Hebrews 4 shares the promise of His rest and invites believers to enter into it, instead of failing to enter because of disobedience.  What does it mean to rest in terms of today?  What benefits does one receive from this kind of resting?  How does this compare to the yoke in Jesus’ word picture found in Matthew 11?  What will you obey to enter into His rest?

There are some groups that promote the idea of an accountability partner and Jesus demonstrated and commanded discipleship.  How is a mentor like a wingman?  What do you expect from peers?  What are the key character traits of a good wingman?  How can you establish a relationship with that ideal person?  What must be done to maintain this relationship?

Last week we talked about a purpose statement that expresses “why you are.”  How do you expect to accomplish that purpose?  What does your life look like when you are living your calling? What are you doing right now that serves it?  What plans are you making now that will fulfill your vision?  How does your passion and motivation influence this?

Getting past passivity and distractions is important, and building strength in our relationship with God is the next step.  What is the one thing you would recommend to a young believer to help him grow in the Lord?  What things have you tried to build strength?  What great ideas have you heard that you’ve never implemented? What mindset do you adopt for success?  What disciplines have you quit doing?  Which ones do you wish you had maintained?

We talked about the passivity and interference men face in their relationship with God.  On a personal level, what is God inviting you to do, right now?  How will you find motivation to act on the invitation?  What will happen if you choose not to do so?  How can you encourage other men to move into roles of leadership and authority at God’s invitation?
