This past year has been traumatic for many people, and whenever there are global crises there are also prophecies. What do you believe about prophecies regarding 2020 and 2021? How do you prepare for the future based on the reports? What is the difference, if any, between prophecy and prediction? What will the world look like in two years? How close are we to the end of time? How would your life change if you knew the exact date of the return of the Lord? How should you change for 2021?

In the two thousand years since Jesus ascended into heaven there have been multiple versions of theology. How do explain wide discrepancies for explaining a single truth? What attitude should a Christian take about concepts that have split churches and created denominations? What does dispensationalism teach? How do you feel about the arguments of a cessationist? How do you resolve evolutionism versus creationism? What about fundamentalism, pluralism, secular humanism, or post-modernism? With all the different “ism’s” how do you speak the truth in love?

Oswald Chambers paraphrases several verses in the Bible when he said “Christians are to be in the world but not of it.” Our republic form of government is predicated on engagement. How much time and effort should we put into politics? Does your answer differ between local, national, and global politics? How would Jesus engage with our system if He came as Son of Man today? What influence do you bring to bear? How engaged should the church be regarding the party system we are currently under? How has your attitude changed over the last several presidential cycles?

In 1 Cor. 2:16 we read that “we have the mind of Christ.” What must you do to recognize the mind of Christ? In any given situation, do you feel, think, and want what Christ wants? What happens when you enter into that kind of agreement with Christ? How do you guard against your own mind taking over? How can you adjust to the fact that His thoughts are higher than your thoughts, and still have the mind of Christ? When are you most vulnerable to ignoring Christ’s mind? What are you called to do because of this discussion?

Hebrews 4:16 says: Let us then with confidence draw near to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need. What do you do spiritually, emotionally, and physically to enter? What tends to shake your confidence, and how do you reestablish it to enter? What is your need? How do you recognize that Christ is interceding for you (Heb. 7:25)? How would someone else know that you have been at the throne of grace? What effect do you have on them?

Our culture of the Western, developed world, is moving further from a God-centered, Bible-based society. How can we live in harmony with those who hold dramatically different values? How should we respond to aggressive lifestyles that demand legitimacy, acceptance, and agreement with their point of view? What does the Lord have to say about the ways of the world? How can you relate to someone who thinks differently than you in a work, community, or family situation? What attitude should we have among ourselves as Christians? How should we respond to those who are obviously hurting themselves and others with their convictions? How do you share the gospel in this crazy world?

Paul described having a veil over ones face and heart that causes them to not understand the truths of God (2 Cor. 3:12-18). What are the most likely culprits in your life that get in your way of seeing God? What might be a veil that distorts your view? How have you overcome a “brick wall” or “bronze sky” that separates you from the Lord? What can you do to see clearly? How would God speak to you if He really wanted to get a message through? How would you treat God if you really wanted to increase intimacy?

The current condition of the world is stress and conflict creating fear and anxiety. In the midst of this storm, how can you find hope in the Lord? What are your best secrets to finding inner peace? How can you encourage a fellow Christian to have hope? What challenges your hope? When are you most at peace? What are you willing to do or give up in order to hold your peace?

The culture of any group is established by its members. As a citizen of the world, how should you respond to this present age? As a citizen of the US, how should you respond to the current cultural trends? Should Christians be activists or pacifists? How would God prompt you to fight? How might He prompt you to withdraw? What would trigger a call to action along the lines of the Minutemen of the Revolutionary War? What do you do because you are a Kingdom citizen? How do you personally balance the truth stated by Oswald Chambers that “you are to be in the world, but not of it?”

The early church shared all things, having them in common. Does God command us to be socialists? How does God feel about entitlement attitudes and programs? What do you understand about ownership? What did John the Baptists mean in Luke 3:11? How does the Apostle Paul instruct us in 2 Corinthians 7? What about the idea that if you do not work you should not eat? How do these commandments and suggestions inform our actions today, in this world?
