We live a faith-based life, meaning our belief in God is the basis for how we feel and act. What is your best definition of faith? How has your faith matured over the years? What is the difference between faith, belief, conviction, opinion, hopes, and understanding? How would you explain the basis of your faith to a person who is new to “the faith”? What does your faith require of you? What does your faith invite you into?

What is your God-attitude?

The Beatitudes (Matthew 5:2012) describe the rewards for being poor in spirit, mourning, and being meek. What is the world’s attitude toward these characteristics? What benefit does Jesus assume by them? How do you establish such humbleness? How do you maintain these attitudes? What could tempt you to break away from these recommendations? How is your relationship with God defined by them? What do you hope to model to others by the way you live your life?

How do you know if you are facing consequences?

The wages of sin is death, according to Romans 6:23, so we know there are severe consequences for sinning. What does it mean to you to be forgiven for your sin? How does God treat your sin, once it is forgiven? How have you experienced God’s discipline? What is the difference between a consequence and a condition? How can you discern the difference between one thing and another in your life? How does your ultimate purpose align with God’s ultimate purpose?

How do you acknowledge the Lord?

Psalm 91 is filled with promises about the protection and favor we can expect to receive from the Almighty. How have you experienced His protection? What is His favor expressed in your life? How, practically, have you made the LORD your dwelling place? What is your response to the devil for using Psalm 91:11 to tempt Jesus? What does that verse mean to you? What does it mean that you know His name in verse 14? How can you share your convictions from this scripture with others?

Last year we felt the impact of a huge disruption, through which we agreed we want to be changed, and we do not want to return to slavery. How has your life changed since the pandemic began? What have you learned about your true identity through these circumstances? How have you stayed the course with God despite the chaos around? What are your new hopes and dreams based on what has been lost and gained in the past year? What are you willing to give thanks to God for, so that He might turn it into a blessing?

Conflict and pain creeps into relationships because of differences of opinions and values. What causes you to want to break fellowship with others? How do you love a person who is unwilling to engage in relationship? What are your strategies to head-off problems before they cause division? How do you relieve stress from a troubled relationship for yourself and the other party? What words of advice would you give to a younger Christian regarding Romans 12:18 (be at peace with all)?

The greatest way to help others to come to know and believe the love God has for them is by your personal testimony. How do you know God is real? How do you know God is love? How do you know God cares about you? Under what conditions can you imagine sharing your testimony with a stranger? Under what conditions would you share it with a close acquaintance or family member?

Our hearts should be broken at the thought of anyone spending a Christless eternity. Read 1 John 4:16-17. How do you help others to know the love God has for them? What are your tools for helping them believe this truth? How have you come to know and believe this? How do you respond to others who have zero conviction about God? What about those who have an inaccurate picture of who God is? What is your most successful tool for connecting with the lost? How are you waiting on the Lord in regards to your children, and spiritual children?
