We can be encouraged and encourage others by rehearsing accounts of God’s faithfulness. What biblical story do you like to recall as a reminder that God is in control? What historic events have special meaning to you, whether they happened long ago or more recently? How has God proven Himself to you, personally? Share an account of God answering your ardent, persistent prayers. Do you have an account of God answering your prayer before you even asked? How do you maintain your confident faith while a prayer request remains unanswered?

We sing “God bless America” as a prayer, and there is some evidence that He has blessed this country. What has America, as a country, done to warrant His blessing? What would your family, co-workers, or others say about your level of contentment? How do you encourage others who are going through tough circumstances?
