What are the most important ingredients for Christian community?

We are a small group that meets on Friday mornings. What makes a small group like this valuable? What conditions must exist for it to be beneficial to your spiritual maturity? How can such a community encourage its members? What other small groups do you enjoy? What do you like about them?
